Last week Osaka Prefecture’s Governor Hashimoto visited Jakarta, Indonesia with 21 Japanese companies based in Osaka who are interested in strengthening ties with Indonesia. He along with the companies joined a seminar which detailed the strengths of Osaka and its roles in various leading industries. Hashimoto said in a press conference before the seminar, “The seminar is expected to promote collaboration between the Osaka and Indonesian business communities.” He also said at the seminar, “The strength of Osaka is that there’s nothing we can’t build. We have confidence about this. These strengths will become needed in order to strengthen Indonesia’s manufacturing sector”.
Many large companies based in Osaka already have ties with Indonesia, including Panasonic and Sharp. It is expected that the importance of the relationships between Osaka and Jakarta, especially, will continue to increase.
