Last week the Japanese government announced it will from July 1st this year start issuing tourist multi-visas that can be used multiple times by individual tourists from China. The mult-visa is aimed at wealthier Chinese citizens above a certain income level. The visa allows Chinese tourists and their families to visit Okinawa and it can be uses unlimited times within a three year period. The first time it the visa is used is limited only to Okinawa, but afterwards holders can use the visa to enter Japan from anywhere else in the country. Also, the purpose of the visit doesn’t necessarily have to be for the purpose of tourism. Business and visiting friends and families activities are also recognized. The new visa is expected to further vitalize the Japanese economy through the increasingly strong buying power of Chinese tourists.
