Japan ranked word’s kindest country by Singapore NGO survey

The Singapore Kindness Movement, an NPO officially recognized by the Singapore government, this month announced the results of a survey they conducted ranking what countries and regions are the kindest. Japan received an overwhelming number of votes for kindest country with 69% of the votes. The surveyed asked 1,000 citizens and permanent residents of Singapore to list in their opinions the top three kindest countries in the world.

In second place came Thailand and third place Singapore. The survey was conducted this year between January and February, before the massive earthquake in northern Japan. The Kindness Movement is a non-profit organization created in response to the government’s call to create a kinder and more caring society in the new century, and to better the image of the country for tourism.
